Edward Pearson supports Race Against Dementia ahead of GB3 debut

Updated: Jun 7, 2023

Surrey racer Edward Pearson can proudly announce his support of Race Against Dementia (RAD) ahead of his debut season in the GB3 Championship partnered by the BRDC.

Edward graduates into GB3 this year for what will be second season of single-seater competition, having scored a top twelve championship finish last year in British F4.

The talented teenager will use his entry into GB3 to promote the work of Race Against Dementia, the charity created by multiple F1 World Champion Sir Jackie Stewart OBE after his beloved wife Helen was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia almost a decade ago.

Since launching Race Against Dementia, Sir Jackie has become a driving force in the ongoing fight to find a cure for the disease, which affects tens of millions of people around the world.

Adopting the same principles that allowed Sir Jackie to be a champion on track, Race Against Dementia has worked to generate much needed funds to help with ground-breaking research into the prevention and cure of dementia.

Having always admired Sir Jackie for the success he enjoyed in his racing career - and for doing so whilst dealing with dyslexia, a condition he himself suffers from - Edward will fly the flag for Race Against Dementia during his GB3 programme, which kicks off at Oulton Park on Easter Weekend.

Fans attending any of the eight race meetings - which includes visits to Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Donington Park - will be able to join Edward in showing their support for Race Against Dementia by scanning a special QR code on his race car, which will provide an easy way to donate.

Alternatively, race fans can text EDWARDP to 70085 to make a £5 donation towards Race Against Dementia.

Edward Pearson said:

“Having experienced the far-reaching impact of dementia within my own family in recent years, I am incredibly proud to be supporting Race Against Dementia. I hope by having the QR code on my car, we can help raise donations to fund essential research on preventing and curing such a horrible disease.”

Sir Jackie Stewart OBE, said:

"Edward is supporting Race Against Dementia during the 2023 GB3 Championship season and promoting RAD in this way helps to raise awareness of the vital work that our Early Career Researchers are doing across the world.

"Unless something is done, one in three people born today will die with dementia, so we urgently need to increase the amount of research into treatments and cures for all forms of dementia.

"Best wishes to Edward from me and the RAD team for the season ahead."
